Content Management Systems
Content Management Systems are application programs for the joint treatment of documents and files.
This kind of programs is usually used within the range of internet, for the production of websites, onlineshops etc.
Most content management systems are constructed this way, that it is also possible for the respective coworkers to put contents in nearly each format into websites without HTML knowledge.
But content management systems are not exclusively used in the Web. They also apply in publishing houses and in the range of printing. CMS systems, only used for the world wide web are mostly called WCMS Systems (Web content management systems).
There is still another further kind of content management systems. ECMS systems. “E” stands for Enterprise. Enterprise content management systems differ mainly through a larger selection of functions and possibilities from normal content management systems. For example in a ECMS System you can create a website with many more sites, than in a normal CMS system. This is the reason why ECMS Systems are usually used in bigger Companies.
